After graduating from Florida Atlantic University (Bachelor's in Business Ed., Master's in Guidance & Counseling), I worked for a short time as a guidance counselor at Hollywood Elementary, then off to South Carolina! Finding a job in Business Education was a little difficult back in the 70s, so applied for employment at the local Public Library, and was hired as a very part-time bookkeeper. Worked my way up through Reference Librarian and Cataloguer positions (while still being the bookkeeper) to Business Manager. Left there, and was hired as a site coordinator at a local job-training program for high-school dropouts aged 16 through 21: went to all the local mills, burger places, stores, etc., finding employment opportunities for our students, while teaching them job skills and then monitoring their progress once employed. Standing in front of a chalkboard (no white boards in the 1980s!) made me miss teaching, so went back to college to upgrade my teaching credential to encompass Elementary Education. Got hired as a teacher's assistant (I know! I started from the ground up!) for a year, and that led to teaching grade 6, which I loved!)
